Early 19th C. burr walnut writing table/desk
This is a stunning early 19th Century burr walnut writting table of rectangular form in the manor of Gillows.
The top is fitted with a dark green/black hide writing surface with gilt and blind tooling. Pull out slides to either end.
The frieze is fitted with four drawers with hand cut dovetail joints and foliate cast drop handles. . The right hand double height drawer opens to reveal a lift out sectioal tray with compartement below. There is also a lockable compartement with slide open top.
The whole supported on four ring turned gadrooned legs terminating in brass cappings and castors stamped 'Cope & Collinson'.
This is a very good antique writing table in lovely condition with a rich attractive patina obtained over the years.
