Rosewood Sarcophagus Jewellery Box c 1850

A wonderfully shaped sarcophagus rosewood jewellery box with ring turned handles to the sides and sitting on bun feet. Intricate mother of pearl inlay to lid and front. On lifting the lid the new interior is revealed consisting of a removable tray with 5 open compartments and 3 silk lidded with mother of pearl knobs. Under the tray there is plenty of room to store larger pieces of jewellery and watches. In the interior of the lid there is a removable silk framed mirror. The box is in excellent condition  with an attractive polished finish .
