SUITE OF 7 'ORIENTAL FIELD SPORTS' ETCHINGS
A wonderful set of seven hand coloured aquatint etchings from 'The most beautiful book on Indian sport in existence” (Schwerdt) drawn by Samuel Howitt.
Howitt was a keen sportsman, hunter, rider, and angler. A self-taught artist, he drew on his enthusiasm and knowledge as a sportsman and produced sporting and natural history paintings, etchings, and illustrations.
Each print, numbered 1-7 in top right corner, depicts a scene from a wild boar hunt from the gathering of the hunters to the return home with the kill.
